Yesterday we celebrated the 6th birthday of our twin cousins! If you’re unfamiliar with the story, we both had babies on the same day 6 years ago (Willa was a week late and Chance was three months early), and we can hardly believe how quickly time has gone! We’ve been dreaming of having them together on their special day for years and now that we both live in Utah, we were so excited to party together! So we pulled out some of our favorite DIY birthday party essentials to make it extra special, and we thought we’d round them up right here on the blog. You won’t believe how easy these essentials are to make and how special they make a party! Here we go!
1. Cake Toppers
Cake toppers are one of our favorite DIY birthday party essentials because they are easy to make and they can take any cake (which is the centerpiece of a birthday party) from basic to custom, festive, and adorable! 2. Backdrops
We love having a fun backdrop for party decor, and it is always put to good use with all the photo-worthy moments that are sure to happen! 3. Birthday Shirts
While our kids are little and open to shameless birthday promotion, we will take every opportunity to celebrate them on their special day. 4. Party Food
Food is the most important part of any party (RIGHT!?), so we love to add little touches to elevate it. Add some painted skewers or fun treat boxes, and even the simplest food becomes party food. 5. Cake Stands

6. Wrapping Paper
Did you know that wrapping paper is super fun and easy to make? If you are like me, and you realize you only have Christmas wrapping paper the night before your kid’s big day, just spray paint or stamp or draw on the blank side of that Christmas paper, and you will be set!
