Cheap DIY Halloween Photo Backdrop with Tablecloths

If you ask me, Halloween is one of the most photo-worthy holidays. Once I get my little munchkins in costume, there is no stopping me with the camera. The only thing we’ve been missing in the past is a really cute backdrop for pics, but who has time and money for that!? Well, we’ve cracked that code, and are so excited to share the tutorial for this quick, easy, and cheap Halloween Photo Backdrop! Keep reading to see how we made it!

Supplies needed to make your own Halloween Photo Backdrop

Plastic fencing
Plastic tablecloths (we used 9 total – 3 of each color)
Hot glue gun
Backdrop stand (or large dowel or something to attach backdrop to the wall)

DIY Halloween Backdrop Wall

Step 1: Cut one of the tablecloths in half (hamburger style). Lay one half on top of the other and cut in half again so you have four pieces.

Step 2: Lay the pieces on top of each other and, starting from the bottom, cut 1-2 inch strips, stopping two inches from the top to keep the pieces in tact. Repeat with all the tablecloths. Set aside two pieces of each color.

Step 3: Measure and cut the plastic fencing to the width of your desired background, and attach it to your backdrop stand (or dowel or the wall where it will be displayed). Starting at the bottom and working your way up, attach the fringed tablecloth pieces to the fencing with hot glue.

Step 4: Cut each of the set aside pieces in half, giving you 12 fringe pieces. Drape them over the top of the display to hide any fencing that appears.

Step 5: Trim the bottom of the fringe to add more defined layers.

Now step back and admire your work! This backdrop looks so cute in photos, and we love the idea of adding additional decorative elements to take it to another level – a balloon arch, layered garlands, spider webs – so many fun options!
