DIY Sand Art Painted Succulent Terrariums

I am so excited to share today’s project with you! This fun and springy project is a combo of old and new – sand art (one of my favorite crafts from childhood) and painted succulents (which are a new trend I have been seeing). This project is so easy, fun, colorful, and adaptable. These DIY...

    Hi Sam!
I really enjoyed reading and looking at the pictures on your blog post! When I was younger I got a sand art set and made many jars of layered sand, but none as pretty as yours. I always found it hard to make the sand look perfectly layered, and some how you found a way to do so. While making the sand art I never thought of adding succulents to the top of the sand. You also took it to the next level and painted the succulents to make them fun colors. I think that by adding the succulents, it really appeals to the modern generation and if you were to sell these they would sell fast. Going back to when I used to make these sand art jars I would always spill the sand everywhere. With your suggestion of using a funnel to put the sand in the jar, I am sure that now if I ever made sand art again it would look perfect just like yours. Have you ever made any other art piece with sand? If so what and how did you do it?
    Sincerely, AlexaReplyCancel

I love this! We're redoing our master bedroom and this would be perfect to add some color. Did you buy the boards this size or did you have them cut? What size did you use? Thanks!ReplyCancel

Hi Tiff! My friend actually had some extra wood that she gave me that was already cut. I think it was around 10"x28". But in the original tutorial (which I link in the first paragraph), they just used plywood and it looks amazing! Good luck with your room!ReplyCancel
