5 Pegboard Organization Ideas for Your Craft Room
My craft room is always evolving as I change the methods I am working with or the projects I am deep into, but my pegboard almost never changes because it is where I keep my core crafting arsenal. Hanging a pegboard for tool storage is so helpful because it takes up little space and gives me easy access to all the supplies I use most.
How do you make a pegboard for the craft room?
Whenever I post a picture of my craft room, we get a bunch of questions about how we put this pegboard together. We’ve learned a few pegboard organization ideas over the years, so we’re going to break things down into five ideas/tips/tricks!
1. Pegboard
The first thing you need is (obviously) a pegboard! This pegboard is from my local hardware store and mounted on the wall with this mounting kit! Pegboards are really affordable, and you can have them cut to fit your space.
2. Paint storage
This was a bit of a hack! I already had this wired cube storage at my house, so I took two of the squares, spray painted them gold and hung them from these hooks. It works great and I get asked about it all the time. It’s perfect for having my most-used paint colors right where I can see them!
3. Hooks and tool holders
I have loved scouring the internet for little storage pieces that connect to the board so that I can pack as much onto it as possible. I used this set that is full of hooks, boxes, jars and holders for tools and spray painted it all gold. They hold everything from scissors to paint brushes to paper slicers and more with ease. In fact, as you are setting up your pegboard, you’ll be surprised by how many craft tools come with holes in them that are perfect for hanging from a hook!
4. Baskets
I spray painted this set of baskets to match the aesthetic (clearly gold is mine). I love these ones because the tighter mesh keeps small supplies from falling out, unlike some other wire baskets with a wider weave.
5. Tape rollers
This is another little hack that is great for holding tapes, string or anything on a roll. Just use the hooks from this useful set, space them as far apart as you’d like and place a dowel that is a little longer than that length on them! Then you can put your washi tape, transfer tape, vinyl rolls, etc. through the dowel! Something like this holder would also be great, especially for bigger rolls of paper towels or kraft paper.
How do you organize a pegboard in a craft room?
Once you have all your pieces, it is so fun to mess around with configurations that make sense to you! You are going to love how handy it is to be able to easily see and have quick access to your most loved tools.
How do you make a pegboard look good?
This is the funnest part of having a pegboard in a craft room! Since lots of craft supplies are colorful and bright, having them displayed on a pegboard is functional AND pretty. We love to arrange supplies in rainbow order. And as we mentioned earlier, a coat of spray paint on your hardware goes a long way!
