How to make a Reverse Tie Dye Lounge Set
Step 1: With the lounge set top laying flat, scrunch in an arc from the bottom left side, up and over to the right elbow. Secure with a rubber band. Scrunch in a smaller arc on the left shoulder, and secure with a rubber band. With the lounge set bottoms laying flat, scrunch in an arc from the top left side, down and over to the right leg.
Step 2: Apply bleach on the fabric from the rubber band to the outer edge. Remove the rubber bands, and lay each piece flat in the sun. Note: When applying bleach, always wear gloves and set up in a well-ventilated area.
Step 3: Let the bleach sit for a few minutes to lighten the fabric. When the desired color is reached, rinse the set in a hydrogen peroxide bath (1:10 hydrogen peroxide to water) to deactivate the bleach and stop the color from changing further.
Step 4: Wash and dry the lounge set.
Step 5: Cut your design (we found ours on Etsy) from heat transfer vinyl and apply to the top with a heat press or iron.
Happy making!
