Apparently, 2019 was the year of the paper chains here on the PLG blog – we have three in the top 10! This paper chain backdrop is the one that started it all and takes the title of Most Popular DIY Post in 2019. It is the perfect show-stopping photo booth or party backdrop, and it can be customized to match any color scheme. It’s bright and dimensional and so fun to make – we even have a template for you to make it super easy!
Sam’s bird-obsessed, pink-loving little girl turned two in 2019, and a flamingo theme party was the natural choice! These DIY Flamingo Cake Toppers were the perfect way to dress up the birthday cake to fit the theme. They’re super easy to make, and so dang cute!
We LOVE all the macrame and wall hangings and weavings that are so popular right now, but we’d never tried any of it until we made these DIY Mini Macrame Wind Chimes! If you have ever made a friendship bracelet in your life, you can make this project. Check it out!
This adorable gumball machine costume was a hit in 2019, and it’s no surprise why! This baby requires no sewing and zero special skills. So if you can wield a hot glue gun, you can make a tiny person into an adorable gumball machine. AND this costume is legitimately cute and so comfy and easy to make and wear!
We’re not surprised that this project made the top 10 for the year – it was one of our faves too! We decided to branch out from our normal paper chain decor and try something more graphic. This DIY Paper Chain Rainbow Wall Hanging is affordable, while still making a big decor impact!
This EASY and adorable Halloween costume we made for our kids makes us so happy we can hardly stand it. It also makes us hungry. Can you imagine a more perfect funny family Halloween costume than this hot dog costume with ketchup and mustard sidekicks?
We shared a few fun advent calendar ideas in 2019, but this DIY Wood Tree Advent Calendar (with free printable activities) was a favorite! Since it’s only semi-homemade, it’s easy and quick to make while still allowing a personal touch, and the end result is adorable and festive!
These Gold Foiled Mother’s Day Flower Pins are a simple, thoughtful, and beautiful gift idea that you can make and your mom will love! And with a free printable card, you’ll have a meaningful and original gift in no time!
Our last paper chain project from the top 10 was this Basketweave Paper Chain Photo Backdrop. Just switch up the colors and adjust the tightness of some of your chains, and you have a fun and different take on our original paper chain backdrop!
We love how this Faux Embroidered Dress turned out – you’d never guess it was made with a cutting machine and some heat transfer vinyl, but it totally takes the dress from ordinary to boho! It’s so easy to get this faux-embroidered effect, and the end result is gorgeous.
Which one are you going to make first?
Again – Thank you so much for supporting the PLG in 2019. Happy crafting! xo, Sam & Liz
