How can I make mother’s day special on a budget?
Luckily for us, making a gift can often be a lot less expensive than buying something! If you are crafty, you probably have supplies that you can work with to make something special.
Whether it be painting jars to make vases (like in this post), making an embroidered photo, or putting together a watercolor recipe box and cards, it doesn’t take a large budget to make something that mom will love!

How to Make a DIY Mothers Day Vase
Step 1: Paint your jar. We found we needed 2-3 coats to give the jars total coverage. Let dry completely.
Step 2: Rough up the dry jars with sandpaper.

very pretty! I found on YouTube if you spray paint glass jars with a white primer (dries extremely fast) then apply one coat of chalk paint…it does the job! Saves a lot of paint and time.
Why spend the extra cash on chalk paint,when primer and any flat paint will get the same results?
Does the chalk paint stay on fine without any chipping or rub off ? Im curious as usually a wax sealent is used on chalk paint. Thanks

Shouldn’t we put a sealant on the jar. Wont water wash off paint after a while.
