Nemacolin Woodlands Resort

I am so thrilled to tell you all about a dreamy getaway my family took a couple of days before Thanksgiving. If you didn’t know, I live in State College, Pennsylvania and just a couple of hours away, not too far from Pittsburgh is a little town called Farmington, Pennsylvania that is nestled in the hills of the Laurel Highlands (If you have ever been to or heard of the Frank Lloyd Wright home “Falling Water” it is located near here.)
The area itself is stunning, covered in dense trees, rolling hills and sprawling valleys. And, in the middle of this idyllic location is the fabulous (and I mean FABULOUS) Nemacolin Woodlands Resort. The most incredible, beautiful, and straight-up fun resort I have been to in years. When the lovely people of Nemacolin Woodlands invited us to come stay so we could tell you allll about it and offer YOU the chance to win a getaway for yourself I was on that faster than my toddler on a tantrum. Here’s a little of what we did.
The rooms were so beautiful, cozy, and bright. We didn’t want to leave them, but we had to our else we would miss out on all of this:
The crazy part of Nemacolin Woodlands is it has every activity in the whole wide world. No really. EVERYTHING. I shall now list. You won’t believe it all, but trust me, it is so. At the Nemacolin Woodlands Resort you will find: Amazing restaurants, championship golf courses, a world-class spa for kids and adults, wellness classes, a holistic healing center, fly fishing, shooting ranges, swimming pools, zip lines, rope courses, climbing walls, mountain biking, mini golf, paintball, tennis courts, a bowling alley, retail stores, an arcade, off-road jeeping, art galleries, dog sledding, horse-drawn carriage rides, horseback riding, animal enclosures (with tigers, lions, zebras, and more!), skiing, snowboarding, tubing, snowshoeing, and MORE. It’s a dream world, I’m telling ya.

I read somewhere that those poinsettias are grown in the Nemacolin Woodland’s own greenhouse! Seriously, this place is too much.

We were lucky enough to visit the Wildlife Academy Nursery where kids can interact with the animals and learn all about them! We met alligators, a sloth, puppies, lizards, a zebra, a donkey, a porcupine, a pig, a goat, and lots of other animals. My kids had the time of their lives meeting all of the animals and petting them!

There is SO much for kids of all ages to do at the resort (Do I need to repeat the list again? Oh, you don’t have 3 hours to read this post? Ok.) and Redder was dying. From the kiddie pool, to the arcade, to all the animals and Christmas trees, he pretty much lost his mind.

My favorite part about our visit was that it was SO festive and beautiful I felt like I was in magical Christmas world. There were beautiful Christmas trees and decorations around every corner. I wanted to skip through the whole place singing carols but I refrained since it’s a classy place and all.
Plus, if that wasn’t enough, around Christmastime the resort has so many amazing traditions along with unexpected surprises, including their annual Gingerbread Display and Elf Tuck-Ins. ELF TUCK-INS. I could die from the magic.

One of the nights we were there we ventured out to the adorable retail shops and Santa was there! Redd was thrilled until he learned he had to sit on his lap to get a treat and then he refused to make eye contact. Nevertheless, it was magical.

To top off the Christmas magic (Ok ya, I’ve said magic/magical 200 times now but how else can you describe this place? It’s magical and that makes 201 so sue me.) when we woke up on our last morning there was a blanket of snow! Redd stood in our room window and yelled “Momma! It’s sowing! It’s white!” for a good half an hour. The area around the resort is so dense with trees that the whole thing was just plain breathtaking.
Oh goodness. I just can’t say/show you enough about how wonderful this place is. But, the best part is that the resort is going to give one lucky PLG reader the chance to find out just how amazing it is for themselves! Watch for their getaway giveaway later this week!
THANK YOU Nemacolin Woodlands Resort for the most wonderful time. It’s was magical (Could someone get me a thesaurus for Christmas? Thx.)
