If you caught our segment on Studio 5 a couple of weeks ago, then you saw us share a bunch of fun projects you can make with removable wallpaper remnants or small batches of removable wallpaper. (And find our post on making upcycled wallpaper planters here!) This craft supply is a sneaky way to easily cover surfaces, make cute gifts, and update pieces in your home to give them new life! Plus, since it is removable you can peel it right off when you are sick of the pattern or want to change it out to match a new vibe.
If you’re wondering what to do with wallpaper remnants, one of our favorite ways is to convert them to an oversized wall hanging! You only need a few supplies to make it happen and it can make a big impact in any space. In fact, it’s so easy to put together I almost feel crazy explaining it, but I love this hack so we’ve gotta talk about it!
Here is what you need:
Supplies Needed to Make a DIY Wallpaper Remnant Wall Hanging
Removable wallpaper with backing still attached (ours is from Chasing Paper)
Poster Hanger
Scissors
What to Do with Wallpaper Remnants: DIY Wallpaper Remnant Wall Hanging
Step 1. Using scissors, cut your wallpaper to your desired size. Ours was about 24 in x 36 in. Do not remove the backing of the wallpaper.
Step 2. Attach your poster hanger to the top and bottom of the wallpaper panel. The one we used has two magnetic pieces for the top and bottom so the panel is not damaged at all, making it reusable! It also has a string attached for hanging which makes things even easier!
Step 3. Hang and enjoy!
That is it! I love the way this project can fill a big space and make an impact with minimal effort. If you don’t have wallpaper remnants around you can also use other large scale papers like wrapping paper or maps to do the same thing!
Do you have any removable wallpaper in your house, on the walls or otherwise? We’d love to hear what you did with it!
Happy making!
