Thank you for supporting the wonderful brands that make this blog possible!
Sometimes motherhood can be a drag. Sleepless nights, the endless chorus of your name being called 5000000 times a day, and the nightly weeping and wailing over the inadequacy of your dinner menu choices can really drive a gal to distraction. However, motherhood has also elevated so many things that I thought were already good and made them so much better. Enter: EASTER. I have always loved Easter and looked forward to it, but after having kids I can’t handle how fun it is. Egg hunts! Baskets packed with treats! Treats in the shape of little tiny nests! Egg Dying! All of the bunnies! It is the best, and making baskets (don’t forget the Mars Wrigley Confectionery chocolate and candy products) has to be the biggest highlight.
On top of the cute factor, the treats make Easter! I love making Easter baskets that are unique and special and packing them with our favorite candy. So, today I’m going to show you how to make a fun graphic monogrammed basket using a little vinyl and embroidery floss, and then I’m going to tell you allll about the Mars Wrigley Confectionery chocolate and candy products you should be buying in bulk from Sam’s Club (which has the best value with their members-only prices) to fill them up. Let’s do it!
Supplies Needed to Make a Graphic Monogrammed Easter Basket:
Plain Plastic Easter Basket
Vinyl Craft Cutter (I use a Silhouette Cameo)
Embroidery Floss + Needle
Drill
- Using your cutting machine software (I use Silhouette Studio), scale your letter to the size you would like it to be to fit on your basket, then send to machine to cut. Remove letter from backing.
2. Apply letter to basket, rubbing with pressure to ensure that it is adhered.
3. Along with my letters I also cut these fun shapes to put around the letters. Follow steps 1 & 2 to apply to the basket.
4. Using a tiny drill bit, drill holes where you plan to embroider, drilling the entry and exit holes for each design. I liked doing zig-zags, lines and geometric shapes.
5. Stitch your embroidery designs where you drilled your holes. Tie off the ends of your floss and cut off any excess floss.
That’s it! Aren’t they adorable? I love the dimension and texture the embroidery adds. It’s such a simple and interesting way to personalize a basket!
Next comes the MOST important part! Filling the baskets with candy!
I love buying all of my Easter treats in bulk from Sam’s Club because of the value but also because it makes me so much more prepared for all of the holiday happenings that might pop up! Buying in bulk means I’ll have enough treats to fill the baskets, the eggs for the hunt, and I’ll have enough M&M’S® candies to toss in the cookies for the church party. It’s the best.
Here’s what I put in our baskets:
M&M’S® Pastel Milk Chocolate and M&M’S® Pastel Peanut candies! There is nothing more timeless than M&M’S® candies and I love their pretty pastel candy shells this time of year! Plus, M&M’S® Pastel Milk Chocolate and M&M’S® Pastel Peanut candies in the Sam’s Club pantry jars are a great value for all my Easter baking and decorating needs.
Mars Spring Minis Mix! Decked in pastel shades, everyone’s favorite chocolates come in one happy package. Fill the candy bowl or eggs—and be the most popular house on the block. Mars Spring Minis Mix features a mix of your favorite individually-wrapped SNICKERS®, M&M’S®, TWIX®, MILKY WAY® and 3 MUSKETEERS®. Plus, 165 pieces come in the Sam’s Club pack which makes it an awesome value for Easter basket making!
STARBURST® Original Jellybeans! Guys, there just isn’t a better jellybean. If you are eating a jellybean that isn’t a STARBURST® Jellybean, then you are WASTING your time. They are so good! And the package from Sam’s Club could not be a better value for Easter decorating and baking.
Now all you gotta do is stuff some Easter grass and all of those delish treats into your adorable one-of-a-kind baskets and watch the Easter magic happen!
What are your plans for your baskets this year? We’d love to hear!
Happy Easter!
