My son turned four in March, and by some miracle we managed to keep him in a crib until just a few weeks before his birthday. I know, I know, it seems like an impossible task, but we capitalized on trapping him in a crib for as long as possible (mostly thanks to an inside-out sleeping bag that made it hard for him to climb out). But, we finally decided it was time to upgrade him. And talk about an upgrade. He went from a hand-me-down crib that had about seven layers of paint on it, to the king of kid-friendly twin beds – The Moda Bed with storage drawers and guardrails from Room & Board.
Is this not the cutest bed you’ve ever seen!? It comes in two sizes (twin and full), with high or low footboard, and twelve (yes TWELVE!!!) color options. I love this bed’s simple, functional design, and that it has a non-toxic lacquer finish that will stay looking great for years to come.
We opted to add guardrails for extra safety and some storage drawers (who doesn’t need more storage space), and we are so happy with those choices. The guardrails can be removed anytime, and the storage drawers (two HUGE drawers on each side of the bed) make the space under the bed functional and organized.
As if that isn’t enough, Room & Board is strongly committed to American craftsmanship and sustainability practices. For the Moda bed, they worked with family-owned El Greco Woodworking, a company of skilled artisans that specializes in creating heirloom-quality and exceptionally safe kids furniture from locally-sourced materials.
So, I guess if it has to be time to set our toddler free from his crib, trading it in for this beautiful bed makes it worth it!

My kids slept in cribs well past their third birthday’s and it was amazing. I love The bed you chose and the fun bright colors! I bet he loves it!
Congrats on your son getting a big boy bed. His room is super cute.
