If you know us at all, you know that we love to work with vinyl. It is such a fun and easy way to transform a surface into something personal, original, and fun. We are so lucky to be able to team up with Pro World, the world’s largest supplier of heat applied graphics and materials, including 400+ variations of vinyl, cutting equipment, and other products. Today, we are sharing our experience with their products in this DIY Day of the Week Mugs project. Keep scrolling to see the tutorial!

Supplies

White Mugs
Siser Easy PSV Permanent Vinyl (cut with a cutting machine)
Masking tape

Step 1: Cut weekdays, weekday outlines, and polka dots on vinyl and weed them.

Step 2: Use masking tape (or painters tape, contact paper, etc) to transfer the weekday cut outs to the mugs.

Step 3: Use masking tape to apply the weekday outlines.

Step 4: Use masking tape to apply the dots on the inside of the mug. I found it easier to do smaller sections at a time until I had the coverage I wanted, as opposed to trying to apply a large amount at once.

Using permanent, outdoor-rated vinyl like I used for this project, the mugs should hold up on the top rack of a dishwasher. But if you want to add an extra protective layer, you could add a coat of Dishwasher Safe Mod Podge.

How cute are these? I love the colors and the polka dots so much.

This was such a fun and easy project to make. I always love thinking of the possibilities with something similar – I’m thinking monogram polka dot mugs for gifts next! What would you put on your mugs?

Happy crafting!
xo, Sam

I am yet to work with vinyl myself, but I have loved every project that I’ve seen that uses it! You can do so much with it, and with the awesome cutting machines and their abilities that are now available, the sky really is the limit.

These are absolutely adorable. I’m super into day-of-the-week things – not sure why, but it does help me keep track of time! – so these are right up my alley. I really need to invest in a cutting machine ????ReplyCancel
