I am in full nesting mode at our house and trying hard to stay ahead of things by prepping our baby’s nursery as much as possible. But I have had a surprisingly hard time finding a mobile that matches the style of our nursery. Who knew that finding something slightly minimal, but bright and colorful, would be such a challenge? So, as we do on this blog, I decided to make one myself. Lucky for me, our friends at Plaid crafts are launching the most perfect new new product that gives me the exact colors I had in mind.

FolkArt Color Shift™ is available in ten gorgeous and bright colors and has pigments that create a metallic luster with colors that shift in changing light! It is water-based and non-toxic (aka safe if baby somehow got her hands on it), and it is so fun to use! Here is how I made our DIY Beaded Baby Mobile using FolkArt Color Shift

Supplies Needed for your DIY Baby Mobile:

Wood beads (in variety of shapes and sizes)
White twine
Embroidery hoop
FolkArt Color Shift

How to Make a DIY Baby Mobile:

Step 1: Measure five long strings. Fold in half and tie a knot to create a loop. This will give you a loop for hanging and ten lines for beading.

Step 2: Tie each string to the embroidery hoop and space them apart evenly. I tied eight strings around the hoop and left two hanging in the middle.

Step 3: Using your FolkArt Color Shift, paint your wooden beads.

Step 4: Let beads dry and arrange them on the strings on the mobile, tying knots under each one to keep them in place.

I loved working with Color Shift – it brushes on so nicely, and look at those amazing colors! You can find Color Shift in 2 and 4 oz bottles, it’s made in the USA, and it can be used indoor or outdoor. It doesn’t get better than that!

And if you like Color Shift, make sure you also check out FolkArt’s new Brushed Metal acrylic paint.
