So, now that it’s warming up and there are actual flowers blooming it just felt right! We used our fave Sculpey Souffle clay to make these flower barrettes because it’s so easy to work with and it comes in the best colors, and we tried a couple of different floral designs that you’re gonna have a blast making.

Small Flower Pattern Hair Clips

Step 1: Roll out your base color to desired thickness.

Step 2: To make flowers, make five rolls (about 1/8″ in diameter) from white clay, and one roll from yellow. Gently press the white rolls around the yellow so it is surrounded by white in one larger roll.

Step 3: Use a clay slicer to slice through the roll, cutting pieces about 1/8″ inch thick.

Step 4: Arrange the flowers on the base color, then gently roll over them with a clay roller so they are adhered to the base color. Use a template or cutter to cut the desired barrette shape.

Step 5: Bake according to package directions. Let cool.

Step 6: Attach an alligator clip to the back of the barrette with super glue. If desired, apply a coat of gloss spray.

Large Flower Hair Clips

Step 1: Roll out your base color and yellow clay to desired thickness.

Step 2: Use a template or cutter to create flower shapes. Cut small circles from the yellow (I used a marker lid for a cutter). Note: You can also use the previously mentioned flower method, but with larger rolls.

Step 3: Bake according to package directions. Let cool.

Step 4: Attach the yellow circles to the middle of the flowers with super glue.

Step 5: Arrange three flowers on an alligator clip using super glue. If desired, apply a coat of gloss spray.
