Valentines Day Crafts: Silicone Mold Melted Crayon Hearts

Last spring when things were first shut down because of Coronavirus, we shared a bunch of kids crafts to help our fellow parents get through the challenge of having kids home 24/7. One of those crafts were these Silicone Mold Melted Crayons, which, to our surprise, ended up being our fastest growing blog post of 2020! So, naturally, we made plans to remake them for every occasion, and the first one is Valentine’s Day! These Melted Crayon Hearts are simple and fun to make with your kids, and are the perfect little Valentine gift to attach to cards! Here’s how you make them:

How to make Melted Crayon Hearts

Step 1: Remove the wrappers from all the crayon pieces. We stuck with pinks, reds, and purples for Valentine’s Day.

Step 2: Break the crayons into pieces small enough to fit inside the heart molds.

Step 3: Place the molds on a cookie sheet. Dust the inside of each mold with glitter (if desired) and then fill them with the crayon pieces. We used one color per heart, but you could also mix them!

Step 4: Put the molds in the oven at 350 degrees for 10-15 minutes, or until the crayons have liquefied.

Step 5: Carefully remove from the oven (it can get splashy) and let cool completely. You can put them in the fridge or freezer to speed up the setting process.

Step 6: Remove the crayons from the molds. This is the funnest part – popping them out of the molds is so satisfying!

We thought the melted crayon hearts would be the perfect little Valentine gift, so we reworked our “You Color My World” printable to go with them! You can get it here.
