Part of the fun of being a craft blogger is working with brands who let you try out their products. And while some of them are wonderful and we wonder how we ever lived without them, some of them definitely go in the box at the back of the craft room, never to see the light of day again. So today, we thought we would help you wade through the craft supply waters and share our top tem most essential, tried and true Amazon craft supplies that every craft room needs. You’ll find each of these supplies to be well loved and fully stocked in our craft rooms, and we’re linking them all so you can snatch them up and get to creating ASAP. Here’s our list:
We would be nothing without our Silhouette machines – you can cut vinyl, iron transfer material, HTV, felt, fabric, shrink plastic, paper, sticker material, even clay! Truly, these machines open up so many possibilities. We’ve made shirts, barrettes, art, shoes, mugs, and more. Get yourself a cutting machine (we recommend Silhouette)!
Because we love our Silhouette machine so much, it’s only natural that we also love working with vinyl. Adhesive vinyl, heat transfer vinyl, printable vinyl, flocked vinyl – so many varieties and so many fun projects! Easily make a faux embroidered dress, perfectly embellished Russian nesting dolls, custom labeled jars, adorable day of the week mugs, and more!
3. Mod Podge
Mod Podge has been around for over 50 years, and it’s no surprise that this craft essential stands the test of time. With over 40 different formulas, Mod Podge can accomplish nearly any adhesive or sealing job (if you’re wondering, Matte, Dishwasher Safe, and Gloss Ultra formulas are our favorites)! We’ve used Mod Podge to decorate a dollhouse, seal coasters, embellish toys, and protect mugs!
4. Craft Paint
Paint is royalty when it comes to Amazon craft supplies and an absolute must-have for your craft stash. Whether you use paint to add intricate details or a simple pop of all-over color, a variety of multi-surface acrylic craft paints has so many uses! We’re partial to FolkArt and Martha Stewart, which we’ve used for painting pasta necklaces with our kids, adding fun details to clay trinket dishes, making large faux cross stitch wall art, and adding a personal touch to a doormat!
Embellishments, stitching, and tassels are some of our favorite ways to elevate a project, and embroidery floss is the perfect medium for all three! Make a traditional embroidery, stitched felt wall art, embellished hat, tassel bookmarks, embroidered photos, stitched planters– we could go on and on!
6. Tie Dye
Tie-dye is versatile and easy to use, and it’s so fun to think outside of the traditional methods for application, which is why it’s on our must-have list! Hand painted, dip dyed, reverse dyed, or stick with regular tie dye – you can’t go wrong!
7. Polymer Clay
One of our favorite mediums to work with, polymer clay is so easy to use and makes you feel like you are creating something out of nothing. It can seem intimidating, but you’d be surprised how many things you can make with simple shapes and very little skill – like these clay hair barrettes, mix and match clay coasters, and precious heart necklaces!
8. Unfinished Wood Shapes and Beads
Unfinished wood pieces are a great way to embellish and add dimension to projects. They provide a blank surface that can be completely transformed with paint or paper. We’ve used them to make bracelet kits, geometric hair barrettes, simple beaded keychains, and themed snack boxes!
Yarn isn’t just for knitting (thank goodness because we don’t have those skills)! Use yarn for large scale embroidery, pom-poms or tassels, woven wall hangings, plastic canvas crafts, embellishing a sweater, or mini macrame.
10. Embroidery Hoops
There are so many uses for embroidery hoops besides holding your embroideries, and because they are inexpensive and versatile, they’ve become a major craft essential! We’ve used them to make baby mobiles, spooky Halloween wall art, paper flower wreaths, and kid-friendly suncatchers!
What are your favorite Amazon craft supplies? We’d love to hear! Share them in the comments!
