It’s just that they are still everywhere and when we see a set we know we can make our own, we can’t wait to try our hands at it! These gold fleck barrettes are so fun because you can incorporate bold color with a bit of glam, making them an adorable accessory for any outfit. Here’s how you make them!
Supplies needed to make your own Gold Fleck Barrettes

Glossy sealant
Alligator clips
Craft glue
How to make your own Gold Fleck Barrettes
Step 1: Roll out clay to about 1/8 inch thick.
Tip: To roll your clay evenly with just a rolling pin, cut two pieces of thin cardboard and place them on each side of the clay. Roll out the clay until the roller rests on the cardboard on each side.
Step 2: Use the cookie cutters or template and Xacto knife to cut the clay into the desired shape. You can also find things around your house that would work – I used a deodorant lid for one of these!
Step 3: Bake the clay according to package directions and let cool completely.
Step 4: Apply adhesive to the clay and let it dry until it is tacky. Using tweezers, place pieces of the gold flakes on the adhesive.
Step 5: Gently press the gold flakes flat. Then spray the clay with a coat of glossy sealant. Let the sealant dry.
Step 6: Use super glue to attach an alligator clip to the back of the clay piece. Let the glue dry.
You’re gonna look SO cute! Happy making!
