The PLG Holiday Village Craft Workshop!

A few years ago we made a Holiday Village that continues to be one of our most popular holiday-themed posts. That got us thinking that maybe our readers might like the opportunity to get together and make their own!  Thus, the idea to host a holiday village making workshop was born, and it turned out to be THE CUTEST baby!

The result was a magical night with the most delightful group of crafters, eating treats, chatting, making, and FEELING that dang holiday spirit. Everyone left with a custom holiday village, all the supplies to make their projects perfect, and fab crafty swag. Let’s relive it!

We teamed up with our friends at Darice to supply nearly everything our attendees would need to make a magical village of their own. Darice is a treasure trove of quality craft supplies for a super affordable price and it made it so easy to go to one place and get everything they would need! We also worked with our dearest friends at Plaid Crafts to supply all the FolkArt Paint and brushes. Only the best of the best for our gals!

Here are the houses we made that served as inspiration to our crafters:

We gave all attendees the option of making a colorful house or a more simple gold and white house. Then, we gave them their supplies, the steps to success and an image of the houses we made to use as a guide and let their imaginations run wild!

Here’s everything we used so you can make your own!

From Darice:

Wooden Birdhouses with Perch
Paint Brushes
Foam Brushes
Mod Podge
FolkArt Acrylic Paint
Patterned Cardstock
Paint Palettes
Sisal Wreaths
Sisal Trees
Hot Glue Guns + Sticks
Baker’s Twine

From Plaid Crafts:
Folk Art Paint
Folk Art Brushes
Liquid Leaf Paint

The funnest part was watching all of the different that each of the attendees made with the same exact supplies! There were so many lovely creative choices and no two villages turned out the same. It was so inspiring to see what everyone came up with!

Most importantly, there were treats from THE BEST cookie baker in allll of Utah (possibly the world?), Ruby Snap! They generously sent over boxes of their heavenly cookies. You can take a look at their current menu here, and if you aren’t local, they SHIP! Honestly, my favorite cookies ever. They made our craft night a party.

It was such a wonderful, cozy night of crafting. New friends were made, creativity was sparked and the Christmas spirit was all of the place.

To make your own, or get the printed instructions you’ll need to host your own holiday village workshop, simply download the steps for the gold and white villages here and the steps for the colorful villages here. Then, just gather your supplies and your best girls and get ready for the BEST night ever.

Keep an eye out for our next workshop (info coming in January). We’d love to see you there! Happiest making!
