The best kinds of gifts are those that feel personal, and in today’s post we’re sharing two of our favorite ways to personalize gifts. The first way is stitching. Adding simple stitching can make even the most basic item feel one-of-a-kind and special. We’ve added stitching to sweaters, planters, photos, notebooks, and pillows, and we will never tire of the detail, texture, and originality it adds! The second best way to personalize a gift is to add… well… personalization! And with the P-touch Embellish ELITE, adding custom messages to gifts has never been so easy. We’re using these two favorite methods to make these sweetest stitched paper mache gift boxes with personalized ribbon and sharing the tutorial below. Keep reading!

How to make your own stitched paper mache gift boxes with personalized ribbon

Step 1: Paint the paper mache boxes and lids with craft paint. Let dry completely.

Step 2: Use an embroidery needle to poke the holes for your stitched design on the lids (this will make stitching easier). If you struggle getting the needle through the cardboard, use a hammer and tap the needle gently.

Step 3: Use embroidery floss to stitch your design on the lids. Tie off the floss and trim any excess.

Step 4: Open the P-touch Design & Print app on your phone, and make your design. There are so many fun fonts, symbols, and frames you can use to embellish ribbon or tape, and the app is so easy and fun to use!

Step 5: Follow the prompts on the app and print your ribbon.

Step 6: Tie the ribbon around the boxes.

Happy crafting!
