We talked about how tricky Mother’s Day gifts can be in this post, but the trickiness doesn’t stop us from trying to come up with simple, thoughtful, and beautiful gifts that you can make and mom will love! These Gold Foiled Mother’s Day Flower Pins fit that description perfectly. And with a free printable card, you’ll have a meaningful gift in no time (just make sure you write a personal note on the back… moms LOVE notes)! Keep reading for the full tutorial!

Supplies needed to make Gold Foiled Mother’s Day Flower Pins + Card

Cutting Machine (I use the Silhouette CAMEO 3)
White Shrink Plastic Sheets
Gold Foil
Foil adhesive (I used this adhesive pen)
Heat tool (or oven)
Tie tacks
White cardstock
Printer

Step 1: Print your design on the shrink plastic. I used florals from Furrow & Feather that you can buy in the Silhouette Design Store. If you have a Silhouette cutting machine, turn registration marks on for easy cutting. The plastic will shrink down to about 1/5 of the original size, so keep that in mind when you are sizing the image. I also like to fade my image 50-75% because the color condenses with shrinking.

Step 2: Cut your designs. I used my Silhouette, but you can also cut by hand.

Step 3: Shrink your plastic. Using a heat tool is so fun because you get to watch the transformation! But you can also do it in the oven (follow the instructions on the plastic). Your design will start to shrivel after a little while and then it will flatten out. While it is still warm, press it with something flat to flatten completely.

Step 4: Apply foil adhesive to the plastic wherever you would like the foil to appear. Let it dry until tacky.

Step 5: Press the foil sheet on the adhesive and rub it gently. Then remove the sheet.

Step 6: Attach the tie tack to the back of the plastic, using hot glue.

Step 7: Attach the pins to the cards. You can download our card design from our digital library (keep scrolling for access).

Don’t these make the sweetest little gift? I love the idea of giving mom some gorgeous flowers that will never die and that she can wear!

Happy crafting!
