Now that Valentine’s Day is over I’ve got nothing but pastels on the brain. Easter candy! Spring flowers! Finallllly! A couple of days ago I found myself in the seasonal aisle of a grocery store here in Utah and I almost busted a gasket over all of the Easter eggs, grasses, baskets, bunny shaped things and candy. Easter is just SO happy and I’m ready to channel that happiness into some DIY projects and forget that January ever happened. So, today we are making these DIY Favorite Foods Easter Eggs (combining two of my fave things, food + Easter) using the most delicious spring colored vinyl from Expression’s Vinyl (whose endless color choices make projects like this the most fun) and making some eggs cute that are as cute as can be.
Here is how you do it:
Supplies Needed to make Favorite Foods Easter Eggs
Expressions Vinyl Series 51 12″ x 12″ Permanent Vinyl Sheets (I used lilac, mint, sunshine yellow, flamingo pink, and coral)
Hard boiled eggs
Food designs (I used these)
Silhouette CAMEO 3 (or any Silhouette cutting machine of your choice)
How to make Favorite Foods Easter Eggs
Step 1: Decorating eggs with vinyl is SO easy. First, choose your design, format it in your craft cutter software, and cut out onto your vinyl sheets.
Step 2: Peel designs from vinyl, weeding out any excess pieces, and apply to eggs, rubbing with firm pressure to adhere completely.
Step 3: That’s it! So easy to do, and you’ve got the cutest eggs around!
Aren’t they darling? This kind of egg decorating is the best because the Expression’s Vinyl adhesive vinyl adheres so well to the eggs so the design will last and last. Plus, it’s the best to do with kids because they can choose their favorite designs and decorate their own eggs with almost no mess!
This is the perfect alternative to decorating with eggs with messy dye, and the options for designs and colors are endless! How are you planning to decorate your eggs this Easter season? If you are looking for even more inspiration, you can find our tutorial for decorating with temporary tattoo paper here, gold foil tattoos here, and napkins, tissue, and natural dyes here.
Happy egg decorating!
