Happy Friday, friends! Today I’m so excited to give you a first little look inside our new apartment in NYC as part of a series we will be doing on putting together this space. To fill you in, the apartment is a very small 2 bedroom, 2 bath (I have been trying to track down the square footage but trust me, y’all, we’re COZY) walk-up on the Upper West Side. When we moved we had a massive purge of our belongings and are still purging daily as we work to make this space work for us. I will say, that despite my worries about the space prior to the move, I actually think that I mostly like it! Sure, there are days when I’d love to send my kiddos down into a big basement somewhere and shut the door, but I’d say being in close quarters is actually working for us overall. That said, today we are sharing the bedroom that our kids (Redder & Willa) share. Come take a look around!
This is definitely the smallest room in the apartment so when we made the move we knew we were going to have to forgo their separate twin beds and opt for a bunk bed to save space. We searched all over for one we loved that was super sturdy for these wildest kids, and we found the perfect one at Room & Board (who was kind enough to partner with us for this post and send us our own to try)! This Fort Kids’ Steel Bunk Bed is the best because it is relatively customizable and comes in a number of different sizes and a bunch of colors. Plus, those angels of delivery men from Room & Board will deliver the bed to your house (which, in my case means flights AND flights of stairs), and put it together for you while you sit back and admire how great it is! Plus, the most magic part about these beds is that they convert back to two twin beds once your kids’ bunking days are over! These beds are so gorgeous, stylish and well made, and are the sturdiest bunk beds I have ever seen. They have been a lifesaver.
Since we moved to the city I have become the basket lady and have probably purchased 20 baskets to try and make the space we have work extra hard. Everything has a basket and sometimes the baskets GO in baskets so the prettier, the better! I found these copper ones that are my favorite right here.
This house shelf is from Michaels but I found a similar one here, you can get these favorite Baby Lit books here, and my FAVORITE sleek, white letterboard EVER (below) is from the fab Heidi Swapp and you can get one here.
A couple other fun details we love in this room is this fun triangular pouf and this fun festival garland (both are on sale) from Land of Nod! Also, you can find our (SUPER affordable) rug right here and our bedding and throw pillow are from Target.
Since the space is so small we wanted to make every inch as fun as possible so we used Urban Walls Irregular Dots wall decals to create a fun accent wall! This wall is definitely a show stopper. Everyone who visits thinks the dots are painted on because they are so beautifully made, and everyone is shocked when I show them that they are just vinyl that is totally removable! These dots come in a variety of fun colors to match your space and the entire selection of removable wall decals from Urban Walls is gorgeous and can really transform any space. We are obsessed!
Our big, wooden letters are from here, just spray painted to match!
There you have it! A tiny bedroom for these tiny rascals!
Now I gotta hear, what are your favorite tips for space saving and storage? To the comments with you! And, for a round up of all of the items from the room, be sure to check out the list below!
