A Week in OBX (Part 1!)

I am SO excited to share part one of a three part series from our recent spring break in the Outer Banks of North Carolina with Seaside Vacations! While putting this post together I kept catching myself sighing with nostalgia over and over because it was SUCH a magical week. If you have a big family or a lot of friends who you’d love to take a vacation with I cannot recommend this place or this company enough. It was a DREAM. Really, I’m finding it difficult to not write this entire post in caps because of my enthusiasm for the experience. Let me tell you about it.
^^ Captain Redd outside our GORG house ^^
^^ Everyone exploring in our “backyard” ^^
^^The view from our deck. Heart. Eyes. ^^
If you aren’t familiar with the East coast, the Outer Banks is a 200-mile (320-km) long string of narrow peninsulas and barrier islands off the coast of North Carolina. The beaches are stunning, the people are wonderful, and there is so much to see and do on these gorgeous islands. For spring break we headed to Nags Head, one the lovely towns in OBX, with five other families for the week and teamed up with Seaside Vacations to find the perfect place to stay. For us it was Ocean Paradise, the most beautiful beach-front home that was full of comfy coastal style, insane views, and more than enough room for our group of 23. Take a look at this beauty:
Ocean Paradise is an 8 bedroom, 7.5 bathroom home that lived up to it’s name. The rooms were beautifully decorated and furnished, the kitchen and gathering areas were gorgeous, comfortable and large, and THE VIEWS. Crazy good. Plus, did I mention the pool, hot tub, AND that it was just a handful of footsteps from the ocean? Yep, it was 100% an Ocean Paradise.

You can view more gorgeous images of Ocean Paradise here, as well as get prices and availability if you are thinking about booking a trip yourself! If you do, save me one of the ocean view rooms because I’m coming too.
Plus, if you are thinking of booking a trip you can get 5% off by using the code PRETTY16 at Seaside Vacations when you book a week long trip in 2016! You’ve gotta visit their website and take a look at all of their insane properties and get that vacation planned! I can honestly say that working with them was unlike working with any other vacation company. Every detail was thought out and taken care of, making it a truly carefree way to travel with all the people you love.
^^ Surfer husbands ^^
One of my favorite parts about staying in Ocean Paradise was its location. It was central to everything we needed, but most importantly the beach was perfect. You could find us outside in the sand from sun up until dark, playing, swimming, surfing and kayaking. It was magic, you guys! Plus, when traveling with so many littles it was so great to have the beach so close so they could play and explore all day.
^^ Lots of spike ball and relaxing ^^
^^ Babies digging and candy-colored houses ^^
^^ My girls! I want to live in a beach house with them 4ever. ^^
^^ Lots of seashell finding and exploring! ^^

^^ To celebrate Willa and her friend Charlie’s birthdays we had a pirate treasure hunt on the beach! It was pretty magical even though the picture taking clearly was not! ^^
^^ Willa found her treasure in the form of this outrageously delicious cake made by the wonderful Becky at Simply Sweet OBX! You have to try to her treats when you are in town. We were all dying over the deliciousness! ^^
^^ How many times have a used the word “magical?” I mean, come on. ^^
^^ Hannah, Katie, Taylor & Laren, my soul sisters. ^^
^^ Ugh. I love these people. ^^
What a perfect week, and we are JUST getting started! I can’t wait to tell you more about what we did (and most importantly, what we ate. Heaven.)
Thank you, Seaside Vacations for letting us stay stay in the unreal Ocean Paradise. What a dream.
Stay tuned for more beachy goodness next week!
ox. Liz

oh my — we LOVE obx and have vacationed there more times than i can count with family + friends!

had i known of your trip ahead of time, i could have pointed you to a number of fabulous restaurants + shops. but one shop i know mama would have especially loved is a tiny little place in Pirate's Quay called "Cloud 9" — they sell most beads + jewelry created by local artists, but the owner, Jenny, is an absolute doll and delight. it's my tradition to visit the shop every year. i the past, i've always bought some beads + had her make a custom hemp necklace for me, but since im no longer in college (and thus grown well past my hemp-wearing days) i usually pick up a ready-made piece for myself.

also, if you ever go back, do yourself a favor + head to the Collington Cafe. it's a touch off the beaten path, but the food there is truly DIVINE. i believe it's family-friendy, but you might want to do yourself a favor and treat the adults only as a little escape. 😉ReplyCancel

First let me say how awesome this post was and seeing it makes me want to pack up and leave right away. A common problem in my family is picking a fun vacation spot to visit in the summer. It seems like every year as much as we try to steer clear of the typical “Florida trip” we always end up booking plane tickets down there. In your post you mention a place that I honestly have never heard of. I have been to the Carolina’s a countless amount of times, due to family, but I have never heard of these particular islands. From your pictures and your writing it seems like an awesome place, perfect for a family to just have fun and relax. Also when traveling with a large amount of people it is nice to have enough space for everyone and feel like your at home. I love the house that you have pictured in your blog because it looks like everyone was able to have their own space. Thank you for the great post, it was an eye opener and a place I will look into for the summer.ReplyCancel
