Mixed Berry and Nutella Croissants

I am throwing a shower for my sweet friend in a few days so I took to scouring Pinterest for menu ideas. Now, when I get to searching Pinterest it’s almost like some sort of magnetic pull always leads me to all the Nutella recipes. Like a moth to a very delicious, very smooth and chocolatey flame, my friends.

I saw a couple of recipes making Nutella crescents with canned crescent rolls, but I wanted the flakey yumminess of a pain au chocolat or croissant. I also wanted to incorporate some of the gorgeous berries that are in season right now, but it also had to be something a child in grade school could make. Not that a child in grade school would be making them, but I would be and we all know the areas in which we weren’t blessed with the sharpest tools in the shed. So, I combined a couple of recipes together and BOOM…my mixed berry and Nutella croissants were born. They are gooey. They are flakey. The berries give you the feeling you are eating a tiny home-baked pie but CUTER. And my oh my, these things were easy. If you can butter toast you can make these magical treats. And you SHOULD make these magical treats.
Nutella + Mixed Berry Croissants
  • 2 sheets Puff Pastry (thawed)
  • 1 jar Nutella (you’ll use about a cup)
  • 1/2 cup Raspberries, halved
  • 1/2 cup Blackberries, halved
  • 1 egg, beaten for egg wash
  • Turbinado sugar, for sprinkling
1) Preheat the oven to 425 degrees.

2) Lay the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface and cut into 4 squares, then cut each square in half on a diagonal so you have 8 triangles.

3) Place a generous tablespoon of Nutella on the puff pastry and spread over the surface, avoiding the edges. Place a couple of berry pieces in the middle. (Enough that you can still easily roll it up.)

4) Place croissants on a parchment paper lined baking sheet and brush with eggwash on top and inside the corner on top as a seal. Sprinkle with sugar.
5) Bake for about 10 to 15 minutes or until golden brown.

Yum, guys. Make these for someone you love today. Or just make them for yourself. You’ve gotta love yourself first, after all. That’s just good advice.
