Happy Friday, friends! It’s here! We’ve done it! And since it’s a Friday and we’re in major weekend celebration mode over here, it seems like a perfect time to share some fun pictures with you and tell you a little about my trip to the Plaid Creator’s Summit a couple of weeks ago! I loooove reliving the magic of this trip so feel free to think of me as your weird uncle who makes you sit down and look through all the photos of his vacay to San Antonio on his phone against your will. It was just SUCH a good trip, I can’t help it.
To give you a little background, if you follow this blog regularly then you might know that we are lucky enough to be Plaid Creators with Plaid Crafts! Plaid makes and distributes amazing craft lines like Martha Stewart, Mod Podge, FolkArt and so many more, and as Plaid Creators we get the chance create content for this amazing company, use their awesome products and share it all with you! As part of this, we also get the chance to visit Plaid HQ every year in Atlanta with the other amazing bloggers who are also Creators (see more about them here), and while there we try out the new products, learn about the coming trends and learn new skills from the experts at Plaid! This is the second year I have made the trip (Little baby Georgie came just before the trip so Sam stayed home and cuddled instead of coming this time. I forgive her.) and every time I visit I am filled up with creative energy and feel so inspired to create. Let me tell you all about it!
Plaid HQ is just the creativity oasis that you might imagine. There are products and projects everywhere and all of the members of the Plaid team are passionate and knowledgeable and SO much fun. We learned about and used new products from Martha Stewart (like a line of watercolor paints and tools and an amazing new marbling medium), new weaving tools for creating textile projects from Bucilla (I can’t WAIT to get some projects up on here showing you what these things can do), and lots of other fun new products that you’re going to see right here on the blog soon. Plus, the experts at Plaid show us all of their tips and tricks to using these products which I love! I feel like I just want to squeeze each one and wring out every bit of knowledge I can from them.
Here’s a little sneak peek of some marbling we did with the new Martha Stewart marbling medium that is coming out. It’s the coolest because it keeps the colors from bleeding together and creates the perfect marbling effect!
Here we are learning about all of the new products for textile projects like rugs, wall hangings, and all different kinds of weaving! I’m obsessed x 100.
We also learned about the coming trends in the industry had fun challenges where we decorated a room from unfinished pieces!
Plus we learned about up-ing our game with live video. This was sort-of my nightmare, but I just pretended to be Oprah which is always my life goal anyway.
And these! This is a technique we learned called a “Dirty Pour” that was mind blowing! We had such a big response when I posted about this on Instagram so I’m prepping to do a little live video to show you how to do it! You’re gonna love it.
We also participated in a Facebook Live Paint with Plaid painting party where we learned to paint these cacti! If you missed it you can still see the video right here on their FB page! This was so fun to do and will make you feel like a real artist. I loved it.
These ladies! They are the best. So full of ideas and talent and it’s the BEST to get to be Creators with them! Thank you, Plaid Crafts for another amazing Plaid Creator’s Summit! This company is the real deal with a focus on quality and creativity that is so energizing. I already want to go back!
