If you follow us on Instagram then you may have heard that my family and I moved to NYC last week! Holy cow, ya know? Right now I am still navigating through the PTSD of the whole thing, trying to figure out how it happened and how to now get 2 kids, a bunch of groceries, including a 24-pack of Diet Coke (necessary), up 5 flights of stairs, but other than that it is very exciting. To fill you in on the move, my husband finished his PhD program at Penn State (yay!), got a real grown up job in the city, and now here we are! It is a little insane and I already feel like there are times this city is either giving me a big hug or a punch in the face, but I’m just trying to ride the roller coaster with my hands up.
Although we have only been just getting settled I have found already that in order to survive/thrive here there are definitely some luxuries you’ve gotta afford yourself. They include but are not limited to Levain dark chocolate peanut butter chip cookies in the middle of the day, laundry/grocery/all the food delivery, comfy, COMFY shoes (like these Dr. Scholl’s beauties that are like walking on clouds), and a good stroller. For that last one I have to recommend a stroller that is so fab I almost felt my eyes feel with tears when I first used it, the Baby Jogger City Select! This stroller is such a dream because it feels like it is reading your mind. We got ours with a second seat kit and glider board making it so there are more configurations and options for ways the kids can ride than there are tools on a swiss army knife! I have loved pushing it around the city with one kid or two, and being able change it up for whoever is coming along on the adventure. Plus, it folds up so slick, making it perfect for my tiny NYC space. I am a super fan of this thing and it is making our NYC transition so much easier since it makes it so we can get around so easily. Plus, there is lots of storage space on the bottom for lots of Zara bags. Don’t ask me how I know that.
Have you ever lived in a big city with kiddos? I’d love to hear your tips! To the comments with you!
