LOVE MONTH! It’s here and I’m so darn excited about it. Aside from the cuteness of the trappings that come along with Valentine’s Day (I mean, if a food is heart-shaped, I’ll put that food in my face, no question), this holiday makes me so happy. I always look forward to this chance to express love a little differently and with a little extra thought then the normal day-to-day routine, and with a couple of little kiddos around to get in on the fun, I look forward to this little holiday more than ever. It’s the best. Plus, I mentioned heart-shaped things, right? GIVE ME THEM.

In anticipation of Valentines Day and all the love we will be spreading, we are so excited to be teaming up with American Greetings to share a couple fun ideas for making the holiday extra special. American Greetings works to make the world a more thoughtful and caring place every single day and Valentine’s Day is no exception! Wishing someone Happy Valentine’s Day with an American Greetings card is a simple way to brighten their day and spread a lot of love. Plus, with Valentine’s Day being in the middle of the week this year, using American Greetings cards and products will make your life so much easier, and give you the chance to still make it special during the mid-week rush. We love their cards, products and their fun digital printables!

Plus, we have paired their products with a fun DIY Valentine Cake Topper that you can make in a snap, turning a plain cake into a pretty little thing that is perfect for making your people feel special on love day. Here’s what we did:

Supplies Needed:
Unfinished Wooden Hearts
Unfinished Wooden Dowels (I used dowels that are 3/8″ thick.)
Craft Paint
Mod Podge
Paint Brushes
Patterned Scrapbook Paper
Glue gun + Sticks

Directions:

  1. If desired, paint the hearts. I chose to paint one white and another blush pink and leave the rest unfinished. Let paint dry completely.

2. Cut out a heart from the scrapbook paper and adhere to wood heart using Mod Podge. For this project I only used Mod Podge as a glue and did not seal over the top. Smooth out any bumps using your fingers.

3. Paint the dowels to correspond with the hearts you painted. I recommend only painting part way so that the part of the dowel that goes into your cake is unpainted. Let dry completely.

4. Using hot glue, attach sticks to the hearts.

That’s it! Aren’t they darling? Now just go stick them in a cake and make someone’s Valentine’s Day EXTRA cute.

Once your cake topper is done, you’re ready to make someone’s day using your little DIY project and some beautiful products from American Greetings! There is such a great variety of cards from romantic to silly, for everyone from kiddos and husbands, and they are all so beautifully made (I found all of mine at Wegmans!). Plus, American Greetings also makes fun corresponding stickers, tissue, bags and more! V-day is handled, friends!

Plus, if all of these beautiful products weren’t enough to make your V-day extra fun, American Greetings has lots of fun printables like this darling printable calendar that can be found here!

That’s it! Now you are all set to go make your people’s love day EXTRA special. Now, go! Get spreading that love!
