At our house we are just a few weeks until school starts again! What about you? I have a husband who is a graduate student and a son in preschool so when August ends we really start to hustle. I almost can’t talk about going back to the land of setting alarm clocks and following a schedule because the sadness makes me want to binge on a sleeve of the cookies I bought for the upcoming lunch boxes I will be packing! Back to school time has always been a love/hate time of the year for me but this year I’m trying to make it all love, and am working on ways to get more organized to start it off smoothly. So, today we’ve teamed up with HP Printers for a fun DIY project to keep you organized!
I don’t know about you, but for me, when school starts and I am on a tight schedule I become such a rusher. I am always almost late and I spend so much of my time looking for stuff. Where’s the backpack? Where’s the form I was supposed to sign? Where in the name of all that is holy ARE MY KEYS? Yes, it’s the struggle of my life: the search for the elusive keys. So this tutorial is a fun way to keep keys organized without being boring and HP Printers are making it happen! HP Printers are the perfect addition to your life during back to school season. We have the NEW Deskjet 3752 which is small and sleek while still doing it all! This baby is budget friendly, can print directly from your smartphone and tablet, prints beautifully while saving ink, and can wirelessly print, scan and copy what you need in a snap making it perfect for dorm rooms, families, and everyone in between! It is a lifesaver and made this tutorial so easy to do. Here’s how:
Supplies Needed:
Unfinished Frame
Paint/Painter’s Tape (I used two colors of FolkArt Paint)
Hooks
Drill
Chain for hanging
Glue Gun/Sticks
HP Printer (Mine is the HP Deskjet 3752)
Paper
1. Drill holes in the bottom of the frame using a bit that will fit your hooks, using a slow setting to ensure that you don’t split your frame.
2. Paint the entire frame white. Let dry completely.
3. Tape off the frame a little more than halfway down and paint with an accent color to give a dipped effect. Paint the hooks also and let dry completely before screwing them into the frame.
4. When the accent color is completely dry, carefully remove painter’s tape.
5. Print off your design using your HP Printer. Cut to fit and place in frame. Attach chain to back of frame using hot glue.
That’s it! Isn’t it cute? A perfect checklist reminder of things to do before you leave the house and a place where your keys can be hanging in style. Just think of all the time you’ll save looking for them and the extra time you can spend focusing on those cookie sleeves!? Who knew a DIY project could be so life altering.
