Ladies Who Brunch + a Giveaway with Minted!

Brunch 1

You know that feeling on the day after Christmas, or the last night of a fab vacation, or the feeling when you pour a bowl of cereal only to open the fridge and find that there is no milk, or maybe the feeling after getting laid off from your favorite job or stepping on a lego in the middle of the night after your baby has awoken for the 10th time, or the feeling after you drop your iphone and you lift it off the ground only to find it has shattered into sixty bazillion pieces? Well all of those are pretty much a spring day in a flowery meadow compared to a couple of weeks ago when ALL of my friends moved. (How’s THAT for an intro? Do you have a cupcake somewhere nearby? Might be time to start sad eating.)

Now, I know you think I must be being dramatic (the answer is yes, always) but really, they all moved. It was like a gosh dang wave of friendship eraser water flooded my life, took all of my friends out with the tide, and left me alone in its wake (or some better metaphor that actually makes sense. Clearly I am too bummed to give you decent imagery.)

You see, we live in State College, PA, home of Penn State University. My husband and I moved here so that he could obtain his PhD, and that means that lots of other people like us are here to get degrees and then go off and make their mark in the world. So, when I made my group of friends, inevitably, I knew this day would come, but I live in denial so successfully that I never thought it would actually come. Nevertheless, that friendship eraser wave was a merciless foe, taking my friends to Philadelphia, North Carolina, California, and lots of other places that I hate now because I am nothing if not mature in my grief.

Happily, just before these sweet friends moved, I was lucky enough to team up with Minted to throw a farewell brunch for my gals. Prior to their moves we would have brunch every Tuesday morning with all of our wild animal children in tow. It was wonderful chaos that I will miss, and it was great to take it up a level and have a kid-less version with some lovely details from our friends at Minted to make it super special. Here’s what we did:

Brunch 2
Minted has the most amazing party supplies with designs made by wonderful artists, and the best part is that so much of it is customizable which adds such a special touch to your celebration! I picked a Botanical Garden theme by artist Alethea and Ruth and had this darling bunting banner made with “Ladies Who Brunch” written on it. I love it so much and kept it up for days since being a lady who brunches is all I ever wanted to be (give me all the croissants).
Brunch 3

Along with gorgeous invites and amazing party supplies, Minted has home decor, stationary, and more! They sent over these gorgeous personalized notebooks with the names of all of my guests and personalized notes in each one, and these darling place cards that matched the theme.

Minted had everything we needed to make the brunch extra lovely like these fun straws and flag stickers! All I had to do was get the donuts (my favorite part) and it was perfect.

Two of my favorite touches were these table confetti circles that made the table so cute and these cutest scalloped stickers that helped make chocolate chip cookies into the perfect favors!

Brunch 11

It was so dreamy. First we ate, then we cried, then we had to eat more because crying. It was the worst and the very best. What’s that saying? “Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened?” Yeah, I really hate that but I suppose it might be true. Stupid saying writers.

So, thank you Minted for helping me host the perfect last hoorah of the Ladies Who Brunch. I love them forever.

They all moved?!! How sad! I experienced that feeling so many times while living there! So many great people, so many good-byes!
