We are SO excited to give you a glimpse into our visit to the Plaid headquarters in Atlanta from a few weeks ago! We’ve mentioned in a post or two about the program, but as part of the celebration of their 40th anniversary, our friends at Plaid kindly invited us along with some other FAB crafty bloggers to be Plaid Creators! And as part of belonging to this lovely group, we visited Plaid HQ with our other new blogger besties for the Plaid Creators Summit. There we learned more about the company (it’s AMAZING), and we got see first-hand how Plaid products are created – from how trends are selected, to meeting and seeing the actual chemists in the lab (that’s AMAZING, too). Plus, we got the chance to try out Plaid’s newest lines with hands-on help from the experts, and got to talk blogging with some of the best on the internets. Yes, it was Christmas and my birthday and a three-day weekend all rolled together. The funnest.
Here are some pictures and a little video from the summit!
The tour of Plaid HQ was the coolest. Craft supplies as far as the eye can see and so many wonderful people who take creating seriously. It was so inspiring.
We had the most wonderful discussion with some of the Plaid designers about how trends are chosen and turned into really great products. They are meticulous and endlessly thoughtful in their design choices and it shows in their products.
Along with meeting all of the Plaid geniuses, we got to learn first-hand from some major blogger royalty; the insanely talented Rachel Faucett of Handmade Charlotte, and the brilliant and wonderful Amy Anderson of DIY Candy, Mod Podge Rocks, and Washi Tape Crafts. What these bright and hardworking women are doing is the coolest, and I ate up everything they had to say like a bag of Doritos.
In between learning more about Plaid and their products, we tried out some of their newest lines in the design studio! Or Mecca, if you live for every color of craft paint, like me.
We tried new products from Mod Podge, Folk Art, Martha Stewart and more! You can see all of the projects we played around with on the Plaid blog. And watch our blog for new projects using the new lines we tried in the next few months! You guys are going to want to get your hands on this stuff. Unreal.
It was so much fun to be surrounded by so many creative minds at work! Be sure to follow the other Plaid Creators below. You’re going to LOVE what they do:
The Cards We Drew, Abbey DeHart
Positively Splendid, Amy Bell
Made To Be a Momma, Katie Wyllie
Cherished Bliss, Ashley Thurman

SIGH FOREVER. There just aren’t enough superlatives in the world to describe the fun. But, there’s more! Watch the little video below for another glimpse of the summit.
