DIY Ombre Clay Necklaces

This is a sponsored post on behalf of Polyform Clay. Thank you for supporting us and our sponsors!
When I found out I was going to have the chance to work with Polyform’s Souffle Clay, I knew immediately that I wanted to create a handful of necklaces to give to some long-stay NICU moms. Liz and I started brainstorming, and when we saw the awesome colors the clay came in, we came up with these sweet little ombre-bead necklaces. I had never worked with clay before, but it was so easy and fun, anyone could do it.
Here is what I used:
Polyform Souffle Clay (white + color)
Chain
Clasps
Pins
Pliers

First, I blended the white and colored clays to make three different shades.

Then I rolled them into round beads, put them on one pin, and then put another pin through the other side so there were hooks on each side of the beads.

I baked them on a cookie sheet at 275 degrees for 45 minutes.

Then I put the beads on the necklaces. They came out with the prettiest suede-like finish, and were extremely lightweight. And look how cute!

Since these were going to be given to mothers at the NICU, we wanted to include an uplifting message. So Liz made this perfect tag…

… that I printed and attached to each necklace.

I love how they turned out and hope they will brighten someone’s day!
xo, Sam
